REFINERY

GOD’S WAY FOR LIFE AND GODLINESS

The REFINERY course is offered as a study from God’s Word, to illustrate to each individual what God says about His design and plans for those men and women in His creation whom He has called unto Himself.

The topic of dealing with one’s sin nature uses an in-depth Bible study and discipleship program. It is designed to help all of us immerse ourselves in God’s Word, develop a plan and implement application in our own lives.

Successful completion of this course will enable individuals to become more effective in their attempts to disciple and biblically counsel others.

REFINERY is not intended for solely teaching as a series of class discussions, or for the purpose of simply reading and reviewing Scripture and what God intends Scriptures to mean to each individual. It is designed to examine Scripture and focus on how Scripture echoes what God says about applying them to our lives practically.

More specifically, examining Scripture in this way requires that the method for examining must use common hermeneutic principles, filters, and processes. Then by using a correct exegesis, the verse meanings by authorial intent are extracted for personal application by each individual. We will not be asking what individuals think a Scripture means; rather we will be asking what is it that God is saying through Scripture.

This methodology leads then to the application process discussed within James 1:22-25 and other Scriptures, describing “putting-on and putting-off”. It is this focus that best describes the hopeful outcome for each individual, thus the name intent of the class.

Specific Learning Objectives:

By the end of this course, students will:

  • Have a greater understanding of their relationship with God through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Know without a doubt as to his salvation condition, and understand where he is relative to the ongoing sanctification process.
  • Use the Bible for your studies, and by doing so, you will gain a better understanding of Scriptures and the relative relationship each has with the others for any given topic area.
